Coastal Samaritan Counseling Center is accredited by the Solihten Institute, an interfaith counseling network inclusive of more than 40 centers. Solihten [Soh-LITE-en] means wholeness and light. The institute accredits, connects, educates, and advances counseling centers that practice one of the most effective paths to healing: spiritually-integrated therapy. Formerly known as the Samaritan Institute, the nonprofit organization was founded in 1972. Since then, this organization, comprised of clergy, mental health professionals, and physicians, has grown to serve member centers that share a commitment to nurturing mind, body, spirit, and community and collectively provide over 600,000 hours of clinical counseling, consultation, and education annually. Solihten Institute is headquartered in Denver, CO.
Accredited counseling centers maintain sound organizational structures, efficient management and administration, high-quality clinical processes, appropriate personnel and financial practices, and professional accountability. To ensure ongoing compliance with Solihten Institute’s rigorous standards and carefully designed policies, each accredited center prepares an extensive self-study, undergoes a two-day on-site review by a Solihten Institute staff member or appointed center director, and receives a written report on the findings every four years.
