Dr. Melinda Tavernier has dedicated much of her professional life to making a positive impact on students, families, and communities. Dr. Tavernier has taught at various levels, from third grade to graduate school, and has held administrative positions within public school systems in South Carolina and North Carolina. Her commitment to education extends beyond traditional school settings. She had the privilege of homeschooling her children for ten years and founded the Vine and Branches Homeschool Association, a nonprofit organization. In 2013, Dr. Tavernier opened Coastal Leadership Academy, a nonprofit public charter high school in Myrtle Beach, SC, which continues to serve students and families in the area. She has also been a member of the Coastal Carolina University staff and worked with students in the Wall College of Business. Most recently, Dr. Tavernier proudly served the Wee Fox family as the principal of Easterling Primary School in Marion, SC.
Dr. Tavernier is honored to have the opportunity to further support the community through her work with Coastal Samaritan Counseling Center, where she is eager to make strong connections and continue providing essential services. Her passion for improving lives and making a difference in the community drives her efforts to support much-needed counseling services for those in the Grand Strand area.
