“Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.” – Dalai Lama
“The place to improve the world is first in one’s own heart and head and hands.” Robert M. Pirsig, “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance”
My philosophy is that in order to treat the symptoms, we need to identify and work through underlying issues using a holistic, person-centered approach that is individualized for the client. I am a proponent of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solutions-Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy, all of which promote the fact that by reframing our thoughts around a situation, we gain clarity in our actions. I also have experience in other forms of therapy, as I believe in finding what works best for the client. After all, you are the expert in your life, I am merely present to assist in finding the way! I have experience in individual, couples, family, and group therapy, with adolescents and adults, and enjoy the opportunity to help others in any capacity I’m able. My professional areas of interest and focus include, but are not limited to, anger management, depression, anxiety, grief, LGBTQ+ issues, struggles with addiction, issues surrounding disabilities, struggles with spirituality, and adoption issues. I recognize the importance of spirituality in the lives of many people, and incorporate spirituality when identified as a major aspect of an individual’s life. I am licensed as a social worker at the LISW-CP level and am a certified addictions counselor as a CACI. I have also provided trainings on working with the unique issues faced by the LGBTQ+ community.
I am a native of North Carolina, with a brief stint in Chicago, before relocating to South Carolina to be nearer to the coast. I believe that easy access to nature and mindfulness are some of the best forms of self-care and personal wellness.
I am grateful for the opportunity to join you on your journey to self-discovery and healing.
